Al Ahly star updates physical condition, targets positive result in Rades

Al Ahly star and veteran playmaker Walid Soliman has disclosed he is back at Pitso Mosimane’s disposal for the encounter against Esperance de Tunis after recovering from injury, conveying that Al Ahly want to return with a positive result from Rades.

A 1-1 draw was enough for the Red Devils to clinch a spot in the next round, knocking out Mamelodi Sundowns with a 3-1 victory on aggregate to mark their 17th semi-final appearance in the competition, the most for any team in Africa.

On the other hand, Esperance pulled a comeback against CR Belouizdad and winning the game on penalties after the tie ended with 2-2 draw on aggregate.

The first leg encounter was expected to take place on June 18 in Rades with the return leg scheduled to be played on the 25th of the same month in Cairo.

“I have completely recovered from the knock that prevented me from training with the team lately. We are now fully focused on Esperance match hoping that we achieve a positive result,” Soliman told Al Ahly official website.

“Esperance got plenty of experience and such games are not up for predictions based on either of the team’s form before the game. Al Ahly players have vowed to achieve a positive result in Rades to make the fans happy.”

“I am very happy with the fans’ support and I hope that we make them happy with the 10th African title.”

The 36-year-old had a shy appearance with Al Ahly this season due to injuries, as he only featured in 15 games this season across all competitions mostly as a substitute.
