Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek have won the Egypt Volleyball Cup after beating city rivals Al Ahly in the final at the Suez Canal sports hall in Ismailia.

After a back and forth battle in the first set, the White Knights managed to finish on top 25-23. They kept their momentum going into the second set and won 25-18, meaning they needed one more set to lift the trophy.

However, their arch rivals weren’t about to surrender and managed to reduce the gap by winning the third set 25-22. The Reds once again surprised Zamalek in the fourth set and forced a tiebreaker to win it 27-25, sending the game to a fifth and final set.

Zamalek were dominant throughout the majority of the fifth set and capitalized on it to win 15-12 and claim the Egypt Cup title.

This trophy marked the Whites’ sixth Egypt Cup trophy and the first one since 2016. This achievement comes just two weeks after having lost the league title to Al Ahly.
