Udinese forward goes into surgery after sustaining injury with Egypt

Udinese youngster Salah Basha had to undergo a surgery after breaking his clavicle while on duty with the Egypt U20 national team.

Basha is an 18-year-old striker who was born in Verona, Italy to an Egyptian father and an Italian mother, before signing to Cairo giants Al Ahly in 2016 alongside twin Richard.

The duo then left and joined Udinese in 2018 in a move that angered the Red Devils and had been training with the Primavera team since then.

Salah was subsequently called-up for the Egypt U20 camp this international break to compete with the Pharaohs in the U20 Arab Cup.

He was included in their squad for the opening game against Niger, where they won 2-0, and made a substitute appearance late in the game but was almost immediately stretched off the pitch after being aggressively tackled.

It was revealed that he had broken his clavicle after the clash and immediately went into surgery under the supervision of national team doctor Ashraf Moharam.

He will, therefore, miss Egypt’s next game against Algeria on June 23, and will probably miss the remainder of the tournament.

Salah had received his maiden first-team call up with Udinese at the end of the current season, when they suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Sampdoria, before appearing on the bench once again at the San Siro against Inter Milan.
