Reports from Morocco have debunked the news regarding a potential interest from Egypt powerhouse Zamalek in signing Wydad Athletic Club midfielder Walid El-Karti in the summer transfer window.

Zamalek have already started to look around for a strong name in the midfield as they prepare for life after Ferjani Sassi after failed to renew for him due to the lack of financial resources, meaning that the player will leave on a free transfer this summer.

Sassi’s most likely destination is Qatari side Al Duhail where he reportedly signed a three-year deal.

Reports in Egypt claimed that the Whites see in El-Karti the most appealing replacement for the 29-year-old Tunisia international, but apparently things are not so advanced as conceived.

According to Moroccan outlet Almountakhab, rumors linking El-Karti with a possible move to Zamalek are not true.

There are no negotiations between the Zamalek and Wydad and the rumored reports are completely not true, states the source.

It was reported that Arab Contractors midfielder Mohamed Magli is another potential signing for Zamalek to fill the void that will be left by Sassi.
