Hossam Hassan signs new Ittihad of Alexandria deal

Egyptian Premier League outfit Ittihad of Alexandria have announced on Monday the club board, led by president Mohamed Moselhy, has reached an agreement to renew the contract of head coach and Egypt legend Hossam Hassan.

Hassan was entrusted to take over Ittihad’s first team back in October 2020 after staying inactive since his last coaching experience with their city rivals Smouha, which had ended in January 2020.

Since taking charge of the Ittihad, the 54-year-old played 29 matches across all competitions, winning 10, drawing 7 and losing 12 games.

Ittihad were seemingly satisfied with the results of the team under Hassan that they decided to tie him down to a new deal.

The club announced on Monday that chairman Mohamed Moselhy held a summit along with Hossam Hassan and his brother and football director Ibrahim Hassan to agree a new contract.

The club president reiterated the importance of having the Egypt legend at the helm of the first team in the upcoming season and the two parties agreed to finalise the agreement within the next week.

The club statement also mentioned that Moselhy discussed the transfer market with the head coach and the potential reinforcements to add to the team next season.

Ittihad hold the seventh place in the Egyptian Premier League this season after collecting 34 points after playing 25 games.
