Egypt U-23 midfielder: I know nothing about Al Ahly interest

Egypt U-23 and Pyramids FC midfielder Ibrahim Adel has commented on the reports linking him with a potential move to Cairo giants Al Ahly this summer, saying that he is not aware of the Red Devils interest.

Adel is a part of the Egypt U-23 which is finalising preparation for the Tokyo Olympics as Shawky Gharib’s men qualified for the tournament after their U-23 AFCON triumph in 2019.

The Pharaohs were placed in Group C, aka Group of Death, alongside European champions Spain, Argentina, and Australia.

The young Pharaohs defeated South Africa with a brace from Mostafa Mohamed in their preparations for the 2020 Olympics.

The Pyramids midfielder was subject to the latest transfer rumors as it was speculated Cairo giants are interested in him with Pyramids aiming to sign the Red Devils playmaker Nasser Maher, which opens up the possibility of a swap deal.

“I absolutely have no idea about this [Al Ahly’s interest] and everything is in the hands of the club [Pyramids],” Adel said.

“I always try to do my best to appear in the best way. Everyone will respect the Egypt U-23 coach for his squad choice for the Olympics and I hope that we achieve a medal.”

The 20-year-old midfielder has featured in 15 games for Pyramids this season between the league and CAF Confederation Cup and has six goals to his name.
