Egypt U-23: We received no calls from Galatasaray for Mostafa Mohamed

The U-23 Egyptian national team director Alaa Abdelaziz has commented on reports that Turkey giants Galatasaray have agreed with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to relieve Mostafa Mohamed from taking part in Olympics.

Egypt is finalising preparation for the Tokyo Olympics as Shawky Gharib’s men qualified for the tournament after their U-23 AFCON triumph in 2019.

The Pharaohs were placed in Group C, aka Group of Death, alongside European champions Spain, Argentina, and Australia.

Mohamed played a vital role in the young Pharaohs’ success in the African showpiece event back in 2019 being the competition’s top scorer.

Reports have emerged from Turkey that Galatasaray and the Egyptian Football Association came to an agreement that Mohamed doesn’t take part.

“We haven’t received any official letters from Galatasaray regarding Mostafa Mohamed’s participation in the Olympics,” Abdelaziz told ON Time Sport TV.

“I have finished all proceedings and booking plane tickets for Mohamed as he will return to Turkey after the end of the national team camp before coming back on the fourth or fifth of July.”

“Mostafa is very happy and is honoured to participate in the Olympics. We haven’t received any objection from the Turkish team. They won’t oppose his desire to play the tournament.”
