HANDBALL: Egypt beat Hungary to finish 7th at World Championship

Egypt managed a seventh-place finish at the 2023 World Men’s Handball Championship after defeating Hungary on Sunday.

The Pharaohs had a good start to the tournament and secured a spot in the quarter-finals, where they suffered a disappointing 26-22 defeat to hosts Sweden.

They also missed out on fifth place after losing to Germany in an agonisingly close game that ended 35-34 in the latter’s favour.

However, Egypt will take consolation in earning seventh place after edging Hungary 36-35 in a thrilling encounter.

This is Egypt’s second consecutive seventh-place finish at the World Championship after the 2021 edition of the tournament held in Cairo.
