We lost focus, says Raja goalkeeper Anas Zniti after Al Ahly defeat

Raja Casablanca goalkeeper Anas Zniti explained the reason behind their defeat against Al Ahly in their CAF Champions League tie.

Al Ahly earned a comfortable 2-0 victory against Raja Casablanca in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals on Saturday.

The Red Devils took the lead before the end of the opening 45 minutes through Mohamed Abdelmonem before Hamdy Fathi’s second-half strike doubled their advantage.

They have now put one foot into the final four of the competition and could make the semi-finals for the fourth consecutive year.

However, Anas Zniti still believes in his side’s chances despite the deficit and made a vow to Raja fans ahead of the second leg.

“Everyone watched the game, we were just around the corner from scoring the first goal,” Zniti told beIN Sports after the game.

“They scored from a quick move that came after a mistake. We were not organized and conceded as a result.

“We lost focus a bit after conceding that goal. Ideally, we would have liked to go into the dressing room with a 0-0 scoreline at half-time.

“These things can happen at this level especially when you are facing the runner-up from last season’s edition of the tournament.

“The result is disappointing for us but we will try to find our way back next week in front of our fans,” he added.
