Egypt’s Ministry of Sports remove Mortada Mansour from Zamalek

Mortada Mansour has been officially displaced from his role as Zamalek president by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Mansour had left the club temporarily after he was sentenced to one month in jail for verbally insulting Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib.

The club’s board of directors then appointed Soliman Wahdan as the club’s interim chairman replacing Mansour two months ago.

However, the Administrative Court ruled that Mansour must be removed as chairman of Zamalek by Sports Minister Ashraf Shobi.

Just days later, the Ministry of Youth and Sports released an official statement confirming the decision and ordered the club to find a suitable replacement.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports have decided to apply the ruling issued by the Administrative Court and call for Zamalek to appoint a new president,” the statement read.
