Esperance defender Houssem Dagdoug receive three-month doping ban

Esperance defender Houssem Dagdoug has been handed a three-month suspension by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over doping.

Esperance have announced in March that Houssem Dagdoug tested positive during the doping control carried out on the first matchday of the CAF Champions League group stages against Al Merrikh.

The left-back went on to play two games in the group-stages against both CR Belouizdad and Zamalek, helping Esperance top the group and reach the quarter-finals.

Consequently, the competition’s Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have decided to suspend the Tunisian player retroactively for three months in the period from March 11th to June 11th, 2023.

The Tunisian giants are set to face Al Ahly in the semi-final of the 2023 CAF Champions League after overcoming Algeria’s JS Kabylie with an aggregate score of 2-1.
