Al Ahly have sealed qualification for the CAF Champions League quarter-finals after beating Sudan’s Al Hilal 3-0 on Saturday.

The Red Devils started the game on the front foot and nearly took the lead inside the opening eight minutes of the game through Mahmoud Kahraba but his shot went inches.

Kahraba had a similar opportunity a couple of minutes later but the forward was not able to find the target from close range.

Despite missing key chances, it was Kahraba who broke the deadlock for Al Ahly following a sublime solo effort after 25 minutes of play.

El-Shahat

The 28-year-old controlled the ball with a deft touch before curling it into the top corner on the half-volley to give Al Ahly the lead.

Percy Tau’s immaculate through ball took out three Al Hillal defenders and found El-Shahat, who doubled Al Ahly’s advantage just two minutes after coming on.

El-Shahat was on the scene again in the 81st minute as he found the back of the net for the second time to secure a vital win.

The victory meant that Al Ahly qualified for the quarter-finals after finishing second in Group B on goal difference with 10 points.

Al Ahly will now turn their attention to the Egyptian Premier League as they host in-form Ghazl El-Mahalla on Wednesday, April 5th.
