Mansour returns to Zamalek, set to announce new head coach

Mortada Mansour is set to return as Zamalek chairman after the end of his prison sentence, the club announced on Thursday.

Zamalek’s board of directors had appointed Soliman Wahdan as the club’s interim chairman replacing Mortada Mansour last month.

Mansour had left the club temporarily after he was sentenced to one month in jail for verbally insulting Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib.

Following the end of his sentence, Mansour is now set to return to his role as Zamalek announced on their official website.

“Mortada Mansour decided to go to the club’s headquarters on Thursday to resume his duties and take a tour among the club’s board members,” the club said in a statement.

“Zamalek will hold a press conference on Friday to discuss a number of important matters including the new head coach.”

The Whites had dismissed Jesualdo Ferreira for the second time this season last week after a poor run of form in the Egyptian Premier League.
