Renard named France head coach ahead of women’s World Cup

The French Football Federation (FFF) have appointed ex-Saudi Arabia boss Herve Renard as France Women’s head coach.

Renard had parted ways with Saudi Arabia last week following their statement that confirmed the former’s resignation.

The 54-year-old had a historic run with the Green Falcons after taking charge in 2019 and guiding them to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

They also managed to stun Argentina in a monumental World Cup upset after coming from behind to claim a 2-1 victory in their opening game.

The Frenchman also became the first foreign manager with the most wins in Saudi Arabia’s history with 18 in 41 games.

However, Renard’s time came to an end as he decided to embark on a new journey ahead of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

He has put pen to paper on a short-term deal that will keep him with France until the end of August next year.

Les Blues were drawn in Group F along with Brazil, Panama, and Jamaica as they kick off the tournament against the latter on July 23rd.
