OFFICIAL: Romain Saïss joins Saudi club Al-Shabab

Morocco skipper and former Wolves defender Romain Saïss has completed a season-long loan move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Shabab.

Saïss joins Al-Shabab on loan from Qatari giants Al-Sadd after joining the latter just two months ago from Besiktas for €2.5 million.

Al-Shabab were keen on reinforcing their squad after a horrendous start to the season, which saw them sit in the relegation zone after collecting just two points from five games.

Saïss will hope to fill in the void left by Hassan Tambakti, who left for Al-Hilal a few weeks ago, for a reported fee of €11.5 million.

He becomes the club’s sixth summer signing after deals that included Yannick Carrasco, Habib Diallo, and Gustavo Cuéllar.

The 33-year-old centre-back was the captain of the Morocco squad that finished fourth in the 2022 World Cup, scoring against Belgium in the group-stages.

On the club level, Saïss played for French clubs AS Valence, Clermont Foot, Le Havre AC, Besiktas, and Wolves, playing over 200 games for the latter across six seasons.
