Manchester City duo linked with Al-Hilal move – Report

Al-Hilal are reportedly interested in Manchester City full-back duo Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo to strengthen their defence.

The Saudi champions are keen to bolster their full-back position in light of Saud Abdelhamid’s imminent departure to AS Roma.

While Manchester City’s duo have been considered, they are not the primary targets. Instead, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is their top priority according to The Guardian. However, it remains uncertain whether the Dutch full-back is attainable.

Kyle Walker was open to leaving City last season amid interest from Bayern Munich. However, the 34-year-old ultimately stayed and signed a contract extension until 2026.

As for João Cancelo, he has not been part of Pep Guardiola’s plans for the past 18 months and spent last season on loan at Barcelona. Despite returning in the summer, the Portuguese defender was also left out of the squad against Chelsea last week.

In the press conference before their Premier League opener, Guardiola stated, “His departure is in the hands of agents and the club, but if he stays, we will treat him with respect and try to get the best out of him.”

Al-Hilal will have a place available in their foreign players’ quota, with Michael Delgado set for a move to Flamengo.
