Mohamed Elneny – Arsenal FC (England)
August 17 – Premier League – Mohamed Elneny was left out of Arsenal’s squad that faced Burnley as the Gunners made a perfect start to their league campaign. Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal the lead after 13 minutes, however, Ashley Barnes equalised for Burnley minutes before the half-time whistle. In the 64th minute, Aubameyang secured the Gunners a valuable win after a long-range effort. Arsenal’s next game will be against Liverpool on Saturday, August 24.
August 17 – Premier League – Mohamed Salah played for 79 minutes as Liverpool beat Southampton away from home. Goals from Sadio Mane (45) and Roberto Firmino (71) put Liverpool in front, before Danny Ings pulled one back in the 83rd minute, which was not enough for the Saints as the Reds’ secured the full three points. Liverpool currently sit top in the league and will face second-placed Arsenal on Saturday, August 24 at Anfield.
Trezeguet, Elmohamady – Aston Villa (England)
August 17 – Premier League – Egypt international Mahmoud Trezeguet and Ahmed Elmohamady started as Aston Villa suffered another defeat, but this time against Bournemouth. The visitors were two goals ahead after 12 minutes only through Joshua King and Harry Wilson, before Douglas Luiz scored a consolation goal in the 71st for Villa. Elmohamady played the full 90 minutes and was one of Villa’s best performers, while Trezeguet was brought off after 87 minutes.
Ahmed Hegazi – West Brom (England)
August 17, 21 – Championship – Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi has continued his absence from the West Brom squad through injury as the Baggies faced Luton Town and Reading in the EFL Championship. Against Luton, the Baggies won 2-1 thanks to Grady Dinagana’s brace, before the fell to a 1-1 draw against Reading four days later.
August 17, 20 – Championship – Team captain Sam Morsy returned from injury and played the full 90 minutes as Wigan suffered two league defeats to Leeds United and Middlesbrough. The Latics currently sit 21st in the league table, only two points away from the relegation zone.
Amro Tarek – NY Red Bulls (USA)
August 18, 21 – MLS – Amro Tarek was benched for the full 90 minutes in his side’s 1-1 home draw with New England, before he was sent off in their 2-1 victory over DC United on Thursday. Tarek received two yellow cards inside the first-half, but that didn’t stop the Red Bulls from getting the three points as Wayne Rooney was also sent off for DC united after 24 minutes.
Mahmoud Kahraba – C.D. Aves (Portugal)
August 18 – Primeira Liga – Mahmoud Kahraba was left out of CD Aves’ squad that best Maritimo 3-1 on Sunday. The Egyptian didn’t play due to issues regarding his international clearance, which was solved on Wednesday, meaning he could make his debut on Friday, when CD Aves face Rio Ave in the league.
August 18 – Super Lig – Karim Hafez started and played the full 90 minutes as Kasimpasa picked up a point against Trabzonspor in their league opener. Kasımpaşa’s next game will take place against Alanyaspor on Saturday, August 24 away from home.
Ahmed Hassan Kouka – Sporting Braga (Portugal)
August 18 – Primeira Liga – Kouka started as Sporting Braga lost to rivals Sporting Lisbon 2-1 in the Primeira Liga. Kouka had a couple of chances to score, but Lisbon’s goalkeeper came on top. The Egyptian also picked a yellow card in the 66th minute, before being replaced in the 72nd minute.
Braga also faced Spartak Moscow in the first-leg of the UEFA Europa League playoffs, but Kouka was benched for the full 90 minutes as the Portuguese side won 1-0 at home.
