KingFut rounds up the Pharaohs Abroad action this week to keep you up to date with Egyptian players overseas.

Mahmoud Trezeguet – Aston Villa (England)

August 3 – Pre-season friendly – Egypt international Mahmoud Trezeguet provided his first assist for his new club as Aston Villa beat Bundesliga outfit, RB Leipzig. Conor Hourihane opened the scoring just 16 minutes into the game with a powerful free-kick, before Yussuf Poulsen equalised in the 28th minute. Hourihane then completed his brace in the 82nd minute from yet another free-kick, before John McGinn made it 3-1 after an assist from Trezeguet.

Sam Morsy – Wigan (England)

August 3 – Championship – Team captain Sam Morsy missed Wigan’s opening game of the season with a slight hamstring problem, but that didn’t stop the Latics from getting the full three points against Cardiff City. Wigan’s goals came through Michael Jacobs (59′), Josh Windass (63′), and Lee Evans (75′), while Joe Ralls (20′) and Omar Bogle (70′) netted for Cardiff. The Latics’ next game will be against Preston away from home on Saturday, August 10.

Ahmed Hegazi – West Brom (England)

August 3 – Championship – Like Sam Morsy, Ahmed Hegazi was also absent from his side’s Championship opener against Nottingham Forest. Matty Cash fired Forest into an eighth-minute lead, before goals from Kyle Edwards and Matt Phillips in the 15th and 26th minutes respectively secured the Baggies their first league victory. Hegazi is expected to also miss his side’s next game against Millwall on Saturday as he is still recovering from an injury.

Mahmoud Kahraba – C.D. Aves (Portugal)

August 3 – Taça da Liga – New signing Mahmoud Kahraba was left out of CD Aves’ squad that suffered a 2-3 defeat to Gil Vicente in the Portuguese League Cup. Kahraba is yet to receive his international clearance, which forced the Portuguese club to launch a complaint against Zamalek and the EFA. Aves will travel to Boavista to face them in the league on Sunday, August 11, and Kahraba’s availability for the game is yet to be known.

Amro Tarek – NY Red Bulls (USA)

August 4 – MLS – Amro Tarek was benched for the full 90 minutes in his side’s 2-0 home victory over Toronto FC. An own goal from Chris Mavinga put Red Bulls ahead, before Kemar Lawrence secured the win a 91st-minute strike. The win put Tarek’s side fourth in the Eastern Conference with 37 points, five behind leaders Philadelphia Union.

Mohamed Salah – Liverpool FC (England)

August 4 – FA Community Shield – Egypt’s star Mohamed Salah played the full 90 minutes as Liverpool lost the Community Shield to league winners Man City. Joel Matip’s 77th-minute header cancelled Raheem Sterling’s 12th-minute opener, which forced the two clubs to head into penalties. Salah scored his penalty, but Georginio Wijnaldum didn’t, and with Man City scoring their five penalties, they lifted the shield.

Mohamed Elneny – Arsenal FC (England)

August 4 – Pre-season friendly – Mohamed Elneny was left out of Arsenal’s travelling squad to face FC Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy, which Barcelona won after a 2-1 victory. Aubameyang put Arsenal ahead after 36 minutes, however, and own goal from Maitland-Niles and a 91st-minute strike from Luis Suarez guided Barcelona to the friendly cup.

Ahmed Hassan Kouka – Sporting Braga (Portugal)

August 8 – UEFA Europa League – Kouka assisted just 11 minutes after getting on as Sporting Braga put one foot in the Play-off round. Braga defeated Danish side Brøndby 4-2 away from home thanks to two late strikes. Braga will host Moreirense in the league on Sunday, before facing Brøndby in the second-leg on Thursday.
