Al Ahly goalkeeping coach Michel Iannacone picked Mohamed El-Shennawy as his pick for the best goalkeeper in Africa.
Iannacone has joined Al Ahly in September 2019, becoming a part of the team that won two consecutive Champions League titles and two Club World Cup bronze medals.
Since Iannacone’s arrival in Egypt, El-Shennawy massively improved as a goalkeeper as he led Al Ahly and Egypt national team to major victories.
After the Reds’ most recent league victory over Pharco, Michel heaped praise on his goalkeeper while expressing happiness for the win.

“El-Shennawy is doing great, I am glad he’s back to top form,” Michel told ONTime Sports.
“It’s good to return to winning ways after Sundowns defeat. We played well and the result was great.”
When asked about his picks for the best goalkeepers in Africa, Iannacone replied: “El-Shennawy is number one, Morocco’s Yassine Bounou is second, and Zamalek’s Mohamed Abou-Gabal is third.”
