The appeal against Queiroz’s suspension was accepted, Megahed says

The appeal against Queiroz's suspension was accepted, Megahed says

Former EFA president Ahmed Megahed declared that national team manager Carlos Queiroz will be on the bench during the Senegal games in the World Cup qualifiers.

Queiroz was sent off during the Cameroon game in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals. He was shown two yellow cards for protesting against a number of the referee’s decisions.

The Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) then decided to ban Queiroz for two matches, handing him a $10,000 fine.

As a result, the Portuguese manager was prevented from leading the Pharaohs from the bench in the tournament’s finale.

The suspension also indicated that Queiroz will be once again leading Egypt against Senegal from the stadium seats, but this time, in the World Cup qualifiers.

However, Megahed stated that Queiroz will be on the bench during the next Senegal game, claiming that an appeal was made and the ban was changed to one game instead of two.

“Hany Abou-Rida played an important role after Queiroz’s suspension. He appealed against the committee’s decision and the appeal was accepted,” Megahed said.

“We are all working together for Egypt and we will do everything we can to help the national team.”
