Egypt international Mohamed Elneny started and played the full 90 minutes as Arsenal beat West Ham 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

There was zero football excitement as both goalkeepers were unthreatened until the 39th minute when Kolasinac found Theo Walcott with a beautiful cross, but the Arsenal captain headed the ball wide.

Three minutes later, Danny Welbeck gave the hosts a deserved lead through a scrappy goal. Mathieu Debuchy sent the ball first time with his head into the area and it fell for Welbeck, who scored his fourth goal of the season.

In the 71st minute, Elneny took a freekick from the edge of the box, but his shot hit the wall and went wide. Arsenal controlled the remaining minutes and managed to secure a narrow win, reaching the semi-finals for the first time since the 2010/11 season.

The Gunners have reached the semi-finals alongside Manchester City, who beat Leicester on penalties and will have to wait for tomorrow to see which teams will join them in the last four.

Arsenal are scheduled to face Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool on Friday, December 22 at the Emirates Stadium at 21:45 CLT.
