West Bromwich Albion have appointed former Newcastle and Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew as their new manager.

Pardew has signed a contract running until 2020, replacing Tony Pulis, who was sacked following the Baggie’s 4-0 defeat against Chelsea.

The Welshman had an unpleasant run with the club as they found themselves two points above the relegation zone, winning just two Premier League games since the start of the season.

The currently sit 16th in the Premier League with 12 points and were knocked out from the EFL Cup after a 2-1 loss to Manchester City.

“I’m thrilled with the opportunity Albion have provided and looking forward to getting to work with what I consider to be a talented group of players,” Pardew told the club’s official website.

“The immediate challenge will be to get the results we need to pull ourselves up the table. But I’m aware that while I’m joining one of the great, traditional clubs of English football, it is one determined to go forward in the Premier League.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to play a part in that ambition,” he added.

Alan Pardew has previously managed a number of English clubs, including Reading, West Ham United, Charlton Athletic, Southampton, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.

His first game in charge will be against former side Crystal Palace at the Hawthorns on Saturday, 2 December. Afterwords, they are scheduled to face Liverpool and Swansea away from home, before facing Manchester United at home.

It’s worth mentioning Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi is currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion from Al Ahly, with the English side having the option to make the deal permanent for €4 million.
