Liverpool defender Andy Robertson revealed that he didn’t feel the excitement when he joined the Reds as Mohamed Salah stole the show from him.

The 24-year-old joined the Reds from Hull City in the summer of 2017, the same transfer window which saw Mohamed Salah’s arrival from AS Roma.

Since joining the club, Robertson has been one of their key players, featuring 49 times for Liverpool while scoring once and assisting 10 times.

However, when he first joined the club, Robertson struggled for minutes, featuring just eight times in the first half of his debut season.

On the other hand, Salah booked a spot quickly in the starting XI for Liverpool and managed to net 53 goals and assist 21 in 74 appearances across all competitions.

The Scottish international spoke about joining the club, saying: “Coming from a relegated club, I don’t think there was as much excitement about me signing as there was with Mo Salah in the same window!”

“But I wanted to prove that I could make the jump. I wouldn’t say that I doubted myself but maybe I got a bit frustrated because you are used to playing every week and then when that stops it’s hard,” he added.
