Al Ahly coach, Patrice Carteron, assured that his side will fight in order to obtain the victory ES Sétif in the CAF Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday.

Carteron spoke in a press conference about the absence of the club fans during the first leg encounter, saying, “The fans absence makes me sad, but we respect all the decision and will play to make everyone happy.”

Tharwat Sweilam, the executive director of the Football Association, revealed earlier that the security authorities approved the attendance of the club members only, despite the Red Devils announcing the availability of tickets via their e-ticketing systems.

“I played more than 30 games in Africa and if we ban the fans from attending games after every chant there will be no spectators in matches anymore.”

CAF ordered Al Ahly to play their next two games in the CAF competitions behind closed doors, with the decision suspended, as Turki Al-Sheikh alongside many were insulted by Al Ahly fans during the Red Devils CAF Champions League second-leg tie against Horoya AC in the competition’s quarterfinal.

The French coach went on to comment on the club’s upcoming clash, saying, “The Algerian team has changed a lot from when I was a coach at Mazembe.”

“We will work to win and achieve a positive result before the return leg in Algeria.”

Carteron faced ES Sétif in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions league in 2014 and was defeated in Algeria 2-1, before managing to secure a win in Congo.
