EFA postpone Al Masry-Hodood clash due to COVID-19 outbreak

The Egyptian Football Association have announced the postponement of the Haras El-Hodood and Al Masry clash after the latter was hit by 16 COVID-19 cases.

Following the discovery of 16 coronavirus cases in Al Masry ahead of their clash against Haras El-Hoduod, the EFA allowed the Port-said based club to undergo additional PCR tests to ensure that their Monday’s game goes in time.

However, the new swab tests made earlier this morning, showed that Al Masry have more corona cases, and to make matters worse, goalkeeper Ahmed Abdelfattah, who is among the injured ones, was transferred to the intensive care unit as his health deteriorated on Sunday’s night.

“The results of the swab were out this morning and it’s confirmed that 12 of Al-Masry players are tested positive to COVID-19,” the EFA revealed.

“The testing was made for some of the current players as well as the youth ones in an attempt to catch up with today’s Haras Al-Hodud match,” they added.

The match was scheduled to take place today, Monday the 10th of August as part of the 18th round of the Egyptian Premier League.

Al Masry are currently 10th in the Egyptian Premier League table with 20 points while Haras Al Hodoud sit 12th, only one point less than Al Masry.
