Cameroon has announced they will not host the CAF Champions League semifinals and final in September.

CAF have been waiting for the Cameroon Football Federation to confirm hosting the two CAF champions’ league semi-finals and the final.

However, in the press conference this morning they announced that the Cameroon government refused to host the games due to Coronavirus outbreak.

Following the withdrawal of Cameroon Seidou Mbombo Njoya, President of the Cameroon Football Federation, released an official statement on his official twitter account, saying:

“I told the CAF that the government has not agreed to host the semi-finals and the final of this prestigious African competition due to COVID-19 and the uncertainties about the short-term evolution of this pandemic.”

The CAF still didn’t say anything about when and where the matches will be held, but reports emerged that either Tunisia or Egypt are close to hosting the event.

Cairo giants Al Ahly and Zamalek are two of the four teams remaining in the competitions alongside Morocco’s Wydad and Raja Casablanca.
