Arsenal gave Arsene Wenger the perfect send-off in his final home game as the Gunners boss by beating Burnley 5-0.
It was an emotional day for the Gunners, as it was the last home match for each of Arsene Wenger, team captain Per Mertesacker, as well as Kitman Vic Akers.
Arsenal XI: Cech, Bellerin, Chambers, Mavropanos, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Wilshere, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, Aubameyang, Lacazette.
Burnley XI: Pope, Tarkowski, Ward, Lowton, Long, Westwood, Cork, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Lennon, Hendrick, Barnes.
Arsenal started the game with high pressure and intensity, as the Gunners wanted to end their recent bad form and to give Wenger the perfect Emirates send-off.
It didn’t take long, as Lacazette provided Aubameyang with a perfect cross, with the latter opening the scoreline after only 14 minutes.
In the dying minutes of the first-half, Bellerin’s cross found Lacazette inside the box, who didn’t have a problem finding the net, making it 2-0.
The second-half started with the same intensity and eagerness from Arsenal, as only nine minutes after the half-time break, Jack Wilshere teed up Kolasniac, whose thumping strike beat Nick Pope to make it 3-0.
It didn’t stop there, as Aubameyang continued his masterclass, contributing to two goals. He first assisted Iwobi before scoring his second of the game, finishing the encounter 5-0 to Arsenal.
The win means Arsenal have secured the sixth place, with the Gunners still have two games remaining in the league against Leicester City and Huddersfield.
