The Pharaohs have finished their March friendlies with a dismal performance against Greece, who managed to secure a deserved 1-0 win.

Egypt failed in the international break to secure a win against two tough European sides, as the Pharaohs lost against Portugal 2-1 and against Greece.

Egypt’s XI: Mohamed Awad; Omar Gaber, Ali Gabr, Saad Samir, Ahmed Elmohamady; Hossam Ashour, Mohamed Elneny; Momen Zakaria, Mohamed Magdy, Ramadan Sobhi; Marwan Mohsen.

Greece’s XI: Andreas Gianniotis, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Dimitrios Pelkas, Alexandros Tziolis, Panagiotis Tachtsidis, Michalis Bakakis, Nikos Karelis, Giorgos Tzavellas, Anastasios Donis, Konstantinos Stafylidis, Lazaros Christodoulopoulos.

The Egyptian team started the game well, as after only five minutes Ramadan Sobhi managed to create a wonderful chance to Momen Zakaria, but the latter failed to convert it into the net.

After that, the Egyptian national team failed to show up and the Greek side started dominating the midfield and completely outplayed Hector Cuper’s men.

It didn’t take them long as they managed to find the net through Nikos Karelis in the 28th minute, as the player managed to convert a wonderful cross through his header, giving his side a deserved lead.

The game kept going on with Hector Cuper’s side looking lost after the goal, which saw the Greek side putting more pressuring on Egypt in the last 15 minutes of the first-half.

The second half started and Egypt started to get into the game slowly, but without making any threat on the Greek side.

Kahraba had a massive chance to equalise after receiving a perfect ball from Abdallah El-Said, but the Ittihad Jeddah forward failed to beat Andreas Gianniotis.

The game kept moving on with Egyptian team trying to find the equaliser, but couldn’t break the Greek defence, who managed to keep a clean sheet and secured a 1-0 win.

Egypt are still having three more friendlies before the World Cup, against Kuwait, Belguim, and Colombia.
