Stoke City failed to maintain their lead against Liverpool, as they suffered a 2-1 loss despite leading 1-0 until the 70th minute.

Stoke City’s starting XI: Grant; Johnson, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters; Shaqiri, Allen, Cameron, Arnautovic; Walters, Berahino.

Liverpool’s starting XI: Mignolet; Lovren, Matip, Klavan, Clyne, Milner; Arnold, Can, Woodburn, Wijnaldum; Origi.

The potters started the game with a very positive attitude and managed to threat Liverpool’s goalkeeper Simon Mingolet in several occasions, as they managed to outplay the Reds in the first-half.

That domination and determination paid off, as Jonathan Walters managed to open the score, making it 1-0 just a minute before the end of the first-half.

Jürgen Klopp brought on Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino before the start of the second-half, and they both killed Stoke’s hopes to win the game, as the first scored the equaliser in the 70th minute, while the latter gave Liverpool the lead two minutes later.

Egypt international Ramadan Sobhi came on in the 81st minute, but unfortunately couldn’t save the Potters as they suffered their 14th league loss of the season.

After this result, Stoke are 13th in the English Premier League with 36 points, and their next game will be against Ahmed Elmohamady’s Hull City on Saturday, April 15 at the Britannia Stadium.
