The Egyptian Football Association have announced that the target date to resume the 2019-20 Egyptian Premier League season is August 7th.

With the Egyptian Premier League season being put on hold along with all sport activity in the country on March 14th, it is set to recontinue five months later on August 7th.

Hossam El-Zanaty, director of the Egyptian Football Association’s Competitions Committee, confirmed that the resumption of the competition will start with the postponed matches, and that he is about to announce the match schedule in two phases.

The reason for the staggered schedule is that it is still unknown when CAF will decide to hold the Champions League semi finals and final, and so the EFA are looking to build the remainder of the fixtures around them in September.

A final decision on the fate of the lower leagues of Egyptian football is to be made next week.
