Egyptian giants Al Ahly have officially submitted a bid to sign Al Ain star Hussein El-Shahat in the January transfer window.

Former Misr Lel Makassa winger El-Shahat has been in superb form for a year since his departure to UAE, scoring 13 goals and recording 15 assists in 23 league matches for the club. During his time there, El-Shahat manager to win the league with Al Ain and finish as runners-up in the Club World Cup after their final loss against Real Madrid.

With much rumors made about the 26-year-old’s arrival in Cairo, the player was made to comment on the matter several times where he hinted at communication between both clubs but no idea where they stand from signing him with Al Ain refuting such claims a few days ago.

Now, Al Ahly have confirmed in an official statement that they have submitted a bid to sign the Egyptian and await Al Ain’s reply. It is worth noting that the player’s brother claims Hussein received an offer from a Belgian club.

Al Ain might see themselves in a vulnerable position if they decide to part ways with El-Shahat, as it is widely known that their other star winger Caio is entering the final six months of his contract and is likely to depart with FC Porto in hot pursuit.

El-Shahat joined Al Ain on loan last January from Makassa before the club made the move permanent a few months later in a total deal worth in excess of three million US Dollars.
