Ahli Jeddah president Prince Turki bin Faisal spoke about the lack of playing time of Egypt international Mohamed Abdel-Shafy at the Saudi Arabian side.
The 32-year-old has been omitted from the recent Al Ahli games as Ukrainian manager Serhiy Rebrov does not depend on him at the left back position.
“To be honest, I think we have Saudi players at Ahli who are better than Abdel-Shafy in the meantime,” Prince Turki told UFM Radio station.
“Abdel-Shafy has to improve and work harder, I think we could then see him again on the pitch with the team,” he added.
Abdel-Shafy joined Al Ahli on loan from Zamalek in 2014 before making his move permanent in the summer of 2015. He made 87 appearances with the club since then and helped them lift the league title in 2016, the 2015 Saudi Crown Prince Cup as well as the 2015/16 King Cup and the 2016/17 Saudi Super Cup.
