Saudi Arabia to play against Argentina ahead of World Cup

Saudi Arabia is set to face Argentina in March ahead of the World Cup in Russia next June.

Al-Akhdar was drawn in a very balanced Group A with the hosts Russia, Uruguay and Egypt as they kick off the World Cup campaign against Russia in the opening day on the 15th of June in Moscow.

Argentina is a logical choice of opponent as they share several similarities with Uruguay, who Saudi Arabia will face in their second group game, and so the friendly will provide a good test going into the game.

Saudi Arabia will start their preparations for the World Cup by participating in the Gulf Cup that starts on the 22nd of December in Kuwait which they weren’t originally going to because it was in Qatar, but after Kuwait had its ban lifted, the competition moved to Kuwait and KSA will now participate.

The preparations will continue with a friendly match against Argentina which is arranged to be played during the international break in March but the venue is not yet revealed.
