West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the sacking of Tony Pulis as manager, the club’s official website announced on Monday.

This comes two days after the club suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Chelsea at the Hawthorns, stretching a bad run of 11 league games without a win. The team currently sit 17th on the league table with 10 points.

“These decisions are never taken lightly but always in the interests of the Club,” chairman John Williams said in a statement on Monday.

“We are in a results business and over the back end of last season and this season to date, ours have been very disappointing.

“We would like to place on record our appreciation of Tony’s contribution and hard work during a period of transition for the Club which included a change of ownership. We wish him well in his future endeavours,” the statement read.

The Welsh manager leaves the club one month before his third anniversary in charge of the Baggies. The club also announced that assistant Head Coach Gary Megson will take over on a temporary basis.

Pulis managed to add many quality players to the Baggies this summer including PSG midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak and Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi who played almost every game with him but the team seemed poor since the start of the season averaging under a goal each game.

Pulis is considered a Premier League experienced coach as he previously was in charge of Stoke City and Crystal Palace.
