Tunisian international and Zamalek midfielder, Ferjani Sassi, has expressed his gratitude to Egyptian fans for backing the Eagles of Carthage in the 2019 AFCON.

The 27-year-old is part of the Tunisian national team squad participating in the 2019 AFCON, in Egypt.

On his national team’s journey in the tournament, Sassi stated, “All the matches are important. We watch our opponents old games to learn about their strengths and weaknesses.”

He added, “Our coach cares about the team’s conditions so that we meet our expected performance so that we play our upcoming games with full concentration.”

On Egypt hosting the 2019 AFCON, Sassi expressed his happiness stating, “I consider the AFCON to be hosted in my home and my country. Many Tunisians came to Egypt and many already live here. The Egyptian fans, especially Zamalek ones, will come to support us, which will be great. We will feel like we are in Tunisia.”

“I have never thought the fans will support a whole team just because they like one player. I hear and see many comments and talks by the fans and the commentators that makes me very proud and happy.”

The Eagles of Carthage are set to start their AFCON journey tomorrow when they face Angola in their group stage opener at Suez Stadium.
