Egypt’s deaf soccer team defeats Italy; wins bronze medal

The Egyptian Deaflympics soccer team defeated Italy 2-1 to win a bronze medal in the Olympic Games held in Samsun, Turkey.

The Deaflympics are a fully-sanctioned Olympic event designed solely for deaf athletes. This year’s edition was held in Turkey.

The Pharaohs went on top inside the first ten minutes through Mustafa Khalifa. The Italians drew level twelve minutes later.

Late in the second half, Hamada Yussein scored his side’s second and secured a bronze medal for the Egyptian squad.

The Pharaohs defeated Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, among others to advance in the Games, before losing to Ukraine in the semi finals.
