Egypt defender Amro Tarek has revealed the difference between former Egypt manager Hector Cuper and his successor Javier Aguirre.

The 26-year-old has been called-up by new manager Aguirre for the Niger encounter in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers which will take place on Saturday, September 8.

Tarek, who currently plies his trade at MLS side Orlando City, was named in Egypt’s preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia but didn’t make the final 23-man list.

He will hope to add to his sole international cap, which came during Hector Cuper’s tenure, and he has spoken on the difference between training under Cuper and Aguirre.

“The difference is that any new coach is considered as an opportunity for all players to prove their value, unlike when you join a team which was already structured four years ago,” Amro Tarek told ONSport.

“The team now has a lot of new players which will make the competition between us even stronger.

“I face a tough competition in my position due to the presence of many great players, and I am sure that the opportunity will inevitably come to prove myself, all I have to do is just focus and be patient.

“The MLS has not stopped since the World Cup, and I am happy that people are supporting me as that gets me motivated to continue abroad.

“The Niger match is a special one especially after the loss to Tunisia. We’re ready to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations. There is no alternative to winning,” he concluded.
