Ahmed Hassan “Kouka” has arrived in the Greek capital Athens to undergo an Olympiacos medical ahead of a move from Sporting Braga.

Olympiacos have been keeping tabs on the Egypt international for some time now, and Kouka is currently close to completing a move to Greece’s most decorated club.

The 25-year-old striker is set to have his medical tests with Olympiacos on Friday, as he looks set to revive his career after falling down the pecking order at Sporting Braga.

If successful, Kouka will reunite with former manager Pedro Martins, who managed the Egyptian for two seasons at Rio Ave, with the forward scoring 16 goals in 37 games under his guidance.

According to reports, Ahmed Hassan has been Martins’ number one target this summer and the Portuguese manager is so keen on signing him.

The move will mean that Kouka will end a seven-year association with the Portuguese league, having joined Rio Ave in 2011 from Al Ahly, before moving to Sporting Braga four years later.

He will also become the fourth Egyptian in the Greek league after PAOK’s Amr Warda, and Zamalek loanees Bassem Morsi and Shikabala, who are at AEL Larissa and Apollon Smyrni respectively.

Olympiacos. who has won the Greek League for a record 44 times, have had a disappointing campaign last season, finishing third in the league behind AEK and PAOK.

They will take part in the Europa League this season, where they will face Premier League side Burnley in the Play-off round on the 23rd and 30th of August.

Hassan has made 199 appearances for both Rio Ave and Sporting Braga across all competitions, scoring 56 goals and assisting 19.

However, he has managed only six goals in 34 games last season with Braga, and his disappointing performances kept him out of the Egypt World Cup squad.
