Mohamed Salah netted the winner as Liverpool earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Egypt international’s first-half goal proved to be enough to get all three points. This marked Liverpool’s third consecutive league win as the Reds maintained their 100 per cent winning record this season.

Liverpool had a bright start to the game, as both Firmino and Trent Alexander-Arnold had early scoring chances. Firmino had his header saved by the keeper off the goalline while Trent Alexander-Arnold free-kick hit the cross bar.

Soon after, Liverpool took the lead as James Milner stole the ball from Yves Bissouma high up the field and passed to Sadio Mane. The ball was then worked to Firmino to Salah whose first-time finish went past Mat Ryan. This was Salah’s 29th goal in 29 appearances at Anfield in all competitions.

Firmino wasted a chance to double the scoreline in the final moments of the first half as Liverpool maintained their 1-0 lead during halftime.

The guests had an early opportunity to level the scoreline after the break but Anthony Knockaert’s shot from inside the box went wide.

Alisson then produced a fine save to deny a header from Pascal Gross in the last minute of the game as Liverpool secured a 1-0 win.

This marked Liverpool’s third win in a row in the league. They are also the only team in the league who are yet to concede a goal, having three clean sheets so far. The Reds will next face Leicester City F.C. on September 1.
