Pharaohs Abroad Roundup: Hegazi assists as West Brom defeat Norwich City

KingFut rounds up the Pharaohs Abroad action this week to keep you up to date with Egyptian players overseas.

Mahmoud Trezeguet – Kasimpasa (Turkey)

August 11 – Süper Lig – Trezeguet played the whole game as Kasimpasa won 3-2 over Rizespor in the league opener. Rizespor opened the scoring in the 33rd minute through Samudio. In the 55th minute, Yalcin doubled the lead for Rizespor. Twenty minutes later, Diagne halved the deficit after converting a penalty. In the 81st minute, Cerbest leveled the score after being played in by Cek. In the 93rd minute Kasimpasa completed the comeback as Khalili scored the third and final goal for Kasimpasa. Kasimpasa’s next match will be against Basaksehir at home in the league on August 20.

Ahmed Hegazi – West Brom (England)

August 11 – Championship – Ahmed Hegazi assisted his team’s fourth goal as West Bromwich Albion defeated Norwich City 4-3 in an entertaining seven-goal thriller. Following the win, West Brom sits seventh in the Championship league table and are set to face Luton Town on August 14 in the EFL Cup.

Ahmed Hassan Kouka – Braga (Portugal)

August 12 – Primeira Liga – Ahmed Hassan ‘Kouka’ was left out of the match day squad as Sporting Braga beat CD Nacional 4-2. Dyego Sousa scored Braga’s first goal in the 4th minute before Bryan Rochez equalized for Nacional from the spot in the 23rd minute. Sousa completed his brace in the 32nd minute before Rochez completed his brace six minutes later. Braga regained the lead three minutes into the second half when Sousa assisted Ricardo Horta. Horta completed his brace in the 72nd minute to extend Braga’s lead. The result puts Braga in second place after the first round of the Primeira Liga. They will next face Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League qualifiers on August 16 before facing CD Santa Clara in the league on August 19.

Ahmed Elmohamady – Aston Villa (England)

August 14 – Carabao Cup – Elmohamady was excluded from the squad as Aston Villa earned a 1-0 win over Yeovil Town to progress to Round Two of the Carabao Cup. Hourihane scored the game’s only goal with 13 minutes to go. They now enter the Carabao Cup Round Two draw set to be held on Thursday. Their next game will be against Ipswich Town in the league on Saturday.

Sam Morsy – Wigan Athletic (England)

August 14 – Carabao Cup – Wigan Athletic were knocked out of the Carabao Cup after losing 3-1 to fellow Championship side Rotherham United. Jamie Proctor scored the opener after 37 minutes before Semi Ajayi doubled their lead before the break. Proctor completed his brace in the second half. James Vaughan scored a consolation goal for Wigan in the 74th minute. They will next face Nottingham Forest F.C. in the league on Saturday.
