OFFICIAL: Saudi Arabia to host CAF Super Cup between Al Ahly and USM Alger

The African Football Confederation (CAF) have announced that Saudi Arabia will host the 2023 CAF Super Cup between the Cairo giants Al Ahly and USM Alger.

Al Ahly, the champions of the CAF Champions League, will compete against CAF Confederation Cup winners USM Alger in the 2023 CAF Super Cup.

The match is scheduled to take place at King Fahd Stadium in Taif, Saudi Arabia, on 15th September, as stated by CAF on their official website.

The Red Devils will now be seeking their ninth CAF Super Cup in its history, having won it eight times, with their latest coming in 2021 and 2022.

The Reds only lost the cup twice in 1994 and 2015, with the latter coming against an Algerian team, but it was ES Sétif.

Meanwhile, USM Alger clinched the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time ever after beating Young Africans on away goals.

The title is USM Alger’s first-ever continental glory and therefore will take part in their first CAF Super Cup.
