Uruguay captain Diego Godin spoke about his side’s upcoming World Cup campaign, which includes a match against Egypt and Mohamed Salah in Group A.

Godin gave an interview with Spanish media outlet Marca, where he was asked about Egypt star man Mohamed Salah. Godin answered, “Let’s see what happens with his injury. I’ve never faced him but it is clear that he’s very fast and I can’t go up against him in an open game.”

He continued, “So, football is not just about running. There are other ways to defend against him. With help from teammates, reducing spaces, that kind of thing.”

The Atletico Madrid defender went on to acknowledge that although Uruguay are seen as the favorites in Group A, every team in the World Cup must be considered competitive.

Egypt play Uruguay in their opener of the World Cup on June 15th.
