Mohamed Youssef speaks on difficult clash with Nejmeh SC

Al Ahly’s assistant coach and director of football Mohamed Youssef spoke on the match with Lebanese side Nejmeh SC in the Arab Club Championship.

Al Ahly begin their road in their third tournament of the season on August 13 against Lebanese side Nejmeh SC in the first leg of the first round of the Arab Club Championship. Many believe the clash will be an easy win with the Red Devils having dominated African and Egyptian football in recent years.

However, Mohamed Youssef is adamant to not call the clash an easy one.

“The game against Lebanese side Nejmeh is difficult,” Youssef told Al Ahly’s official website.

“The technical staff have been watching many of Nejmeh’s recent games and have noted how strong they are.”

“The home and away legs against Nejmeh will not be easy like many have predicted,” the former Al Ahly defender emphasized.

“Al Ahly is looking forward to having many fans at Borg Al-Arab stadium. The fans are an important factor in supporting the team in finishing the first leg with a positive result and to make it to the round of 16,” Youssef concluded.

Al Ahly will be looking for a better showing at the annual competition between Arab teams after losing to Jordanian side Al Faisaly in the semi-final last year. This year’s edition has a different format with no group stages and all two leg matches.

After the match on August 13, the Red Devils will return to continental play against Espérance on August 17.
