Pharaohs Abroad weekly roundup

FC Basel were beaten midweek in the UEFA Champions League but Salah was later on target over the weekend, whilst Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ scored on his full debut to guide FC Luzern to victory.

ENGLAND

Premier League

Hull City 0-0 Aston Villa

Hull City continued their 4 game unbeaten streak as they drew 0-0 with Aston Villa finding themselves going into the international break in the top half of the table after 7 games. Ahmed Elmohamady played at right-midfield for the second consecutive time this season until he was replaced in the 84th minute by David Meyler. Mohamed Nagy ‘Gedo’ was not involved in the match, but he played his first 90 minutes in months for the Hull City Reserves midweek.

Championship

Brighton & Hove Albion 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday (Midweek)

Adam El-Abd was yet again an unused substitution in Brighton’s 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday. Wednesday took the lead just before the end of the first half thanks to Matt Fryatt, who’s on loan from Hull City. It took a 90th minute equalizer from Keith Andrews to rescue a point against relegation zone Sheffield Wednesday.

Brighton & Hove Albion 1-3 Nottingham Forest

Adam El-Abd watched from the bench again as his side threw away a 1-0 lead to lose 3-1 at home against high-flying Forest. Andrew Crofts took the lead in the 31st minute but his goal was cancelled out when former Arsenal man Lansbury equalised at the start of the second half. Two Forest goals in quick succession from Henderson and Lansbury put the game to rest as Nottingham Forest left the Amex Stadium with all 3 points.

League One

Swindon Town 1-0 Tranmere Rovers

Mohamed ‘Dodo’ El-Gabas came on as a 79th minute substitute as Swindon Town beat bottom placed Tranmere Rovers. Swindon Town took the lead in the 29th minute when Dany N’Guessan slotted home a penalty.

League Two

Morecambe 4-3 Chesterfield

Chesterfield suffered their second defeat in succession in dramatic style. Sam Morsy started the game, his 11th of the season in midfield. Within 23 minutes Chesterfield were 3-0 up thanks to Eoin Doyle’s brace and Gary McSheffrey. Morecambe then had a remarkable second half, not only coming back but winning the match after scoring 4 goals with the last from Padraig Amond coming in the 86th minute.

SWITZERLAND

UEFA Champions League

Basel 0-1 Schalke (Midweek)

Basel were defeated at home to German side Schalke thanks to a wonder goal by Julien Draxler. Mohamed Salah played the whole 90 minutes whilst Mohamed El-Nenny was an unused substitute.

FC Laussane-Sport 1-2 FC Basel

10-man Basel picked up their third consecutive away win after coming from behind to beat Laussane-Sport 2-1. Mohamed Salah, whose strike lead to Basel’s equaliser, and Mohamed El-Nenny both started while the latter played the full 90 minutes.

FC Zurich 0-2 FC Luzern

Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ scored his full debut goal for FC Luzern as his side recorded an away win against 12-time league champions FC Zurich to see them climb into the top 4.

Challenge League

FC Biel-Bienne 4-1 FC Locarno (Midweek)

Sherif Ashraf was not involved in his sides victory over 9th place Locarno. Goals from Guiseppe Morello and Mehdi Challandes were enough to put the victory to bed.

FC Wohlen 2-4 FC Biel-Bienne

Sherif Ashraf came on in the 88th minute as e replaced goal scorer Nico Siegrist. Wohlen took the lead in the 12th minute thanks to Nenad Bijelic but Biel-Bienne managed to equalise in the same minute. Challandes gave them the lead in the 26th minute but three minutes later FC Wohlen pulled one back. Morello made sure Biel-Bienne went into the second half with the lead as he slotted home in the 35th minute. After five first half goals it took 38 minutes for the next goal from Siegrist. Biel-Bienne climb into the top 4 with their second successive victory.

PORTUGAL

Liga ZON Sagres

Academica 0-1 Nacional Rio Ave

Ahmed Hassan Koka‘s Rio Ave recovered from a 3-0 upset at home last week to Ali Ghazal’s Nacional to beat Academica 1-0 in a game which saw 10 yellow cards. Koka started the game and after the scoreline being 0-0 for 80 minutes it took an own goal by Reiner Ferreria, who slotted home the cross that would’ve fallen to Koka, to break the deadlock. Ahmed Hassan was substituted four minutes later for Yonathan Del Valle.

Nacional 3-0 Nacional 

Ali Ghazal’s Nacional recorded a second successive 3-0 win this time over Braga. The midfielder started the game and played the whole 90 minutes receiving a yellow card in the 89th minute.

BELGIUM

Pro League

Lierse SK 2-1 LMons

Hossam Ghaly and Ahmed Samir Farag featured for the full 90 minutes in Lierse’s 2-1 win over Mons to see them move to 10th place in the league. Ghaly was involved in the first goal as Julien Vercauteren gave Lierse the lead. Rachid Bourabia added to the score line in the 79th minute before Gregory Lorenzi scored a consolation penalty in the 90th minute.
