KingFut’s ‘Hidden Pharaohs’ series will introduce our readers to some of the many players of Egyptian origins, who may seem somewhat unknown to Egyptian and African football fans. In its first installment, Ziad Ibrahim sheds some light on FC Copenhagen’s Danish-Egyptian starlet, Yones Oliver Felfel.
Full Name: Yones Oliver Felfel Date of Birth: November 24, 1995 Place of Birth: Denmark Height: 1.82 m (6 ft 0 in) Current Club: FC Copenhagen Previous Club(s): Hellerup Idrætsklub (HIK) International Career: Denmark U-16, U-19 National Teams Position: Striker, Right Winger
Yones Oliver Felfel – commonly known as Felfel – is a young Danish-Egyptian talent who defends the colours of Denmark’s most successful club, FC Copenhagen. Felfel, born in Denmark in 1995, began his football career with Danish club Hellerup Idrætsklub (HIK), before joining FC Copenhagen in 2010. Following a number of impressive displays with the U-19 side, the forward was promoted to the Denmark champions’ first team during the winter break of the 2013/2014 season, in which the Lions finished second. Copenhagen coach Ståle Solbakken awarded Felfel his Superliga debut on 14 March 2014, when he replaced Thomas Kristensen in an away game against SønderjyskE, playing the last seven minutes.

On the 31st of March 2014, Yones signed his first professional contract with FC Copenhagen, which guarantees him a place in the Danish club until the summer of 2016.
According to the widely-known football statistic website Transfermarkt, Felfel’s market value is estimated to be £88,000 (approx. €110,000, or 1 million EGP), which would surely increase with his expected participation this season, as Solbakken depended on the young attacker on several occasions during the team’s pre-season.
International Career:
Born to an Egyptian father and a Danish mother, Yones Felfel naturally chose to represent Denmark’s national team in different youth stages, as he featured for the Danish U-16s in 2010, and played twice for the Danish U-19s. However, Felfel has previously expressed his desire to represent Egypt at the senior level, as he sent a video message to the Egyptian fans after journalist Waseem Ahmed reached out the the young Pharaoh.
