French-Egyptian talent Haissem Hassan has reportedly agreed in principle to represent to the Tunisian national team after the Tunisian Football Federation held lengthy talks with the player.

Hassan, who is from Egyptian descent, is a product of Chateroux’s youth system and made his first-team debut last season. He has since made 17 appearances across the league and the Coupe de la Ligue.

This season Hassan’s had a much bigger role with Chateroux as he appeared in 13 matches in Ligue 2 and provided one assist, helping his side sit 15th on the table with 34 points.

It was previously reported that Egypt head coach Hossam El-Badry is keeping a close eye on the 18-year-old prodigy ahead of a possible call up, however, it seems that Tunisia are on their way to anticipate and beat the Pharaohs to the player.

According to Tunisian outlet Tunisie Numerique, the domestic federation in Tunisia is very keen on neutralising the player in order to be eligible for the Tunisian NT.

“Talks with Haissem Hassan have progressed very well. He gave us an initial consent and showed his willingness to play for Tunisia,” a source in the TFF told Tunisie Numerique.

Hassan represented France’s U-17 and U-18 sides and even made their 2019 U-17 World Cup squad.
