Salah up against Ronaldo for Premier League POTM award

Salah up against Ronaldo for Premier League POTM award

Mohamed Salah has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for September and he will be up against Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Egyptian has enjoyed a spectacular month with Liverpool, scoring in all of their three Premier League games against Leeds United, Crystal Palace, and Brentford.

His strike against Leeds United saw him join an exclusive Premier League Centurion club, before becoming the fastest-ever Liverpool player to score 100 league goals against Brentford.

Despite many Liverpool and Egyptian fans believing Salah deserves the award, the forward is facing huge competition for the honour.

The biggest threat is Cristiano Ronaldo, who like Salah, scored three goals in September against Newcastle United and West Ham, while he couldn’t help Manchester United avoid a late defeat against Aston Villa.

Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, Allan Saint-Maximin of Newcastle, and Watford’s Senegalese winger Ismaila Sarr have also been nominated.

Salah has won the award three times before, namely in November 2017, February 2018, and March 2018 and will hope to clinch it for the fourth time to equal the likes of Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer, Dennis Bergkamp, and Frank Lampard.

You can cast a vote for the Egyptian here, with the winner being announced on Friday, October 8 at 11 am.
