OFFICIAL: Egypt joins Croatia & New Zealand in Winsunited Cup

Egypt will take part in the Winsunited Friendly Cup in the United Arab Emirates during the international break in March.

The Winsunited Cup will witness the participation of four teams, namely Egypt, Tunisia, Croatia, and New Zealand, as confirmed by both the Tunisia and Croatian football federations.

The tournament will consist of two semi-final matches, and the winners will play in the final to determine the champion, while the losers will play in a third-placed playoff.

A draw will be conducted later to determine the matchups.

The semi-final matches will occur on March 22, while the third-placed playoff will be played on March 25, with the final match scheduled for March 26.

The friendly cup will serve as preparation for Egypt and Tunisia ahead of resuming the World Cup qualifiers in June, while it will also be preparation for Croatia for the Euro 2024.

This will mark Egypt’s first clash with New Zealand since the double friendly header in July 1999, which saw the Pharaohs win a game and draw the other.

In 1999, Egypt’s only friendly against Croatia took place, which finished in a 2-2 draw, with both goals scored by Egypt’s icon Hossam Hassan.

Meanwhile, Egypt faced Tunisia in 42 games, across different competitions, with the last game taking place last September, which Tunisia won 3-1.
