OFFICIAL: Ahmed Eid appointed new Ghazl El-Mahalla head coach

Former Egypt international Ahmed Eid Abdelmalek has taken charge of second-division side Ghazl El-Mahalla.

Eid was part of the historic Egypt team that won three consecutive AFCONs and since his retirement in 2019, he coached several clubs in the second and third divisions, including Goldi, Nogoom FC, El-Shams, and Beni Ebeid.

His last managerial spell was with La Viena FC this season, but he left the club just a few weeks after he took over the team due to personal reasons.

Eid has now the biggest challenge of his managerial career so far as he confirmed he took over the 1973 Egyptian champions Ghazl El-Mahalla.

“Praise be to God, the head coach of Ghazl El-Mahalla. A significant step in my coaching career, leading a historic and prestigious club.

“I pray for success and hope for the support and backing of Ghazl El-Mahalla’s fans for the team. God willing, we will meet everyone’s expectations.”

El-Mahalla currently sit fifth in the Egyptian second division, having been relegated from the top division last season, just two points away from safety.
