Ismaily announce signing of Justin Shonga along three new additions

Egyptian giants Ismaily have announced the signings of Zambia international striker Justin Shonga, Mohamed El-Tarhouni, Omar Radwan, and Ahmed Eid.

After his contract ended with South African side Cape Town last July, Shonga has been undergoing a trial period at Ismaily, in their Alexandria training camp.

And it looks like the 24-year-old has convinced head coach Talaat Youssef of his abilities and the club agreed a deal with the Zambia striker ahead of the new season.

The Yellows have been in dire need of a new striker following the departure of Fakhreddine Ben Youssef to Pyramids FC and the inconsistent performances of Benson Shilongo and Shokry Naguib.

They will hope that Shonga is the man that they have been looking for, especially that he came so close to signing for their league rivals Zamalek last year.

Shonga rose to prominence in 2017 when he moved from his home country of Zambia, where he plied his trade for Nkwazi FC, to sign for Orlando Pirates.

While he didn’t lift any silverware with the Pirates, he still managed to score 16 goals and provide 16 assists in 77 appearances while also guiding them to back-to-back second-place finishes in the league.

Then in October of 2020, he moved to South Africa’s Marumo Gallants FC, where he stayed for just three months before signing a six-month contract with Cape Town City FC.

On the international level, Shonga has 15 caps for Zambia, during which he scored seven goals, with his last appearance coming in November of last year.

Meanwhile, the Yellow Dragons have also announced the signing of Libya international and former Smouha winger Mohammed Al-Tarhouni from Al-Ahly Tripoli.

Al-Tarhouni had represented Smouha on 31 occasions during the past two seasons, scoring once while assisting twice, before returning to Libya last month.

Moreover, Zamalek youngster Ahmed Eid has joined Ismaily on a season-long loan as well as ex-Al Ahly keeper Omar Radwan.

Eid is a product of the Zamalek youth sector, making 22 appearances for the first-team and was part of the team that won the league title last season.

Meanwhile, Radwan joins Ismaily from Tala’a El-Gaish following spells with Al Ahly, El-Sharkia, El-Raja, El-Gouna, and Aswan.
